Insurance can be confusing however long you've been on the road, so if you can't find the answer you need here, just give us a shout.

No, ingenie Learner is designed to cover you on your supervising driver’s car. It keeps things flexible and could save you money while you get the practice you need before test time.

If you have bought, or want to buy your own car and get a full year’s insurance, try ingenie Young Driver insurance.

If you have any queries about which cover you need you can email us at [email protected]

Because everyone learns differently, you can choose learner cover for anything from one month to 6 months at a time. If you pass before your chunk of insurance is finished, we’ll give you a refund for the time you didn't use. If you need longer, you just buy another chunk the same way you did first time around.

Be careful: your learner insurance ends the minute you pass your test. You'll need to ring us on 0345 234 2242 to upgrade to your full ingenie insurance before you drive.

Just like with any insurance, the actual cost depends on the car, how long you would like the insurance to last, where you live, how old you are and a whole bunch of other stuff.

BUT - ingenie Learner runs alongside the car owners insurance, so it could cost less than them adding you as a named driver and protects their No Claims Discount while you practise.

If you pass quicker than you thought you would (go you!), we'll give your money back for any full months you haven’t used.

Say you bought 3 months of learner insurance but passed after a month and a half. You'd give us a ring on 0345 234 2242 to let us know, and we'd refund you the one full month you didn't need.

Be careful: your ingenie Learner insurance only covers you before you pass your test. Make sure you call us to upgrade to your full ingenie insurance before you drive.

Because ingenie Learner runs alongside your supervising driver's insurance, it only covers the car you took your learner policy out on. However, once your chunk of insurance runs out, you can buy another with a different car.

If you want to change the car you're practising in before your insurance runs out, you can call us on 0345 234 2242 and we'll update your details.

If you need more time, you can buy another chunk of learner insurance online or over the phone on 0345 234 2242. You can get covered for a month at a time if you need to keep things flexible.

ingenie Learner runs alongside your supervising driver’s car insurance. That means it only applies on the car you declare on your policy, so you won’t be covered for driving any other cars.

The supervising driver's car must have its own annual insurance policy in place.

If you have any queries about your cover you can email us at [email protected]

Your co-pilot while you’re practising must be between 25 and 75 years old, and have held a full licence for more than 3 years. If you want to take your driving test in the same car, ingenie Learner also covers your examiner, however old they are.

The car must be covered by a full insurance policy but you aren't limited to practising with the person who insures it, as long as they've given you permission.

When it comes to who you should pick - who’s willing?! Your supervising driver could be a parent, grandparent, big sister - anyone who meets the requirements above.

If you have any queries about your cover you can email us at [email protected]

When you buy ingenie Learner, you have 14 days to cancel and get a full refund as long as you bought more than a month's cover. It's called a cooling off period.

You can also cancel at any time during your insurance with no charge, and you'll be refunded for any full months you have left as long as you haven't had to make a claim.

You don't have to, but you'd probably find it very useful as you learn to drive.

The app will help you keep track of how many hours of lessons and practice you've done, which routes you've covered and what times of day you’ve experienced. There's also extra driving advice to help you get to test time in really good shape.

Don't worry - we thought of that. If we don't detect movement for 30 minutes, we'll stop recording your journey automatically.

With ingenie Learner, your insurance covers anytime you’re practising. If you have a bit of a bash, your learner insurance steps in.

That protects your supervising driver from any costs and keeps their No Claims Discount safe - which does tend to cut down on family rows.

If you need to claim on your learner insurance, call us on 0345 165 0563. As you’ll be the policyholder, we’ll need to speak to you and not the owner of the car.
