Car insurance

Why is young driver insurance so expensive?

This is one of the questions we get asked the most at ingenie.

Many people think that it's just a about covering the cost if their car is damaged or stolen, but that's just one of the many factors taken into consideration when calculating insurance premiums.

The biggest cost for insurers is the paying out for serious crashes, resulting in expensive personal injury claims and because young drivers have more crashes than older people that means higher risk and more expensive car insurance.

Traditionally this has resulted in all young people being penalised with high premiums across the board, however at ingenie we believe in treating everyone as an individual – giving you the chance to prove that you're a good driver by fitting a black box in your car to act as a co-pilot giving you feedback on your driving.
