Get caught just once and lose your licence

Distracted driving

Phones at the wheel mean 6 points

After a lot of noise about using your phone at the wheel last week, the government's revealed its plan to increase the 3-point penalty to 6.

Remember - if you've had your licence less than 2 years, 6 points mean you lose your licence. When this new penalty goes though, getting caught using your phone just ONCE can get you diqualified.

That would be fairly rubbish, wouldn't it?

For most newish drivers, the process of taking the driving test is still a fresh and painful memory. Imagine getting through all of that, only to lose it all because you sent your mate a quick text about Celebrity First Dates.

Have you ever got your phone out at the lights, only to glance to your right and see a police car pulling up? All it would take is an officer glancing back - licence lost.

Being distracted by anything while you're driving is incredibly dangerous. People die all the time because someone couldn't wait to talk about what's for dinner. If that's not enough to put you off, think of how crap it would be to lose your licence after so much hard work and money. VERY crap.

See what the big fuss was about distracted driving last week.
