Make your own road safety film

Think and Drive

With that small tidbit of advice out the way, here's the deal: Think and Drive are looking for under-20s to create their own road safety awareness film.

The website is in Italian (it's an international competition) so I'll summarise for you. I'm fluent in Italian. Or I struggled through with Google Translate so you don't have to.

What is this?

Think and Drive want video submissions on the subject of how dangerous distracted driving is. That could be about using phones, listening to music, paying too much attention to your rowdy mates or drink and drug driving.

You can film the thing properly or on a camera from 2003 or on your phone - they're not fussed.

Who can enter?

You can. If you're between 14 and 20 years old, you're the one that they want. You are the one they want, ooh ooh ooh.

What's the prize?

A not-insignificant 1,000€ for the best film overall, with 2x 500€ prizes for best picture and best original story.

How does one win such a competition?

One films a video under 3 minutes long in a format accepted by YouTube, that weighs a maximum of 500MB. Then, one simply racks up the most views on YouTube, which puts one through to a panel vote.

You have until 30 July 2016 and the winners are announced in September.

Why would I bother doing this?

1. If you're hoping to get into film, media, advertising or anything similar, an ad award with a charity focus is a bloomin' good way to get started.

2. Did I mention 1,000€?

3. Everyone will think you're a legend. And you don't even have to jump off something high or propose in a cute way.

Intrigued? Go check out the entry form.
