First middle lane hogger convicted

Middle lane hogging

The government made middle lane hogging on the motorway illegal in 2013 - but it's taken 2 years for anyone to be convicted. That tells you a little something about how stubbornly this driver was sticking to his chosen lane...

Don't do the crime if you can't pay the fine

Driving a van, the motorist held his "inconsiderate" position in the middle lane of the M62 despite making 6 drivers brake and swerve, according to police.

After being pulled over by the police, the driver failed to turn up to his court date and so was fined £500 in his absence and ordered to pay £400 in legal fees and a £40 victim surcharge. He also got 5 penalty points.

The law of the road is not a joke

Whether you're infuriated by middle lane hoggers or you're one of the culprits, the law isn't a joke or a suggestion - you can get caught, you can get charged and you can get fined.

Be considerate out there.
