2 out of 3 experienced drivers can’t pass theory test

The theory test. If I had a quid for every person who said "It's just common sense really!" to me before I took mine...

So this made me feel a bit better about the hours I spent getting my head around stopping distances and when to use which lights:

2 out of 3 so-called experienced drivers failed the theory test when asked to take it again.

Experienced drivers are nearly 20% less likely to pass

In the study, only 33% of experienced drivers passed compared to 51% of learners. And where did they go wrong? Basic road signs.

Before 2002 there was no hazard perception section, and anyone learning to drive before 1996 won't have even taken a theory test at all. It really is harder these days.

So, don't feel too bad about struggling with the theory - your parents would probably fail!
