88% of new cars to use telematics by 2025
A report by Ernst & Young predicts that connectivity telematics will be used in 88% of new cars globally by 2025.
Many technology companies are now teaming up with car manufacturers to provide telematics-based apps and safety features. Our latest deal in partnership with Vauxhall went live last month, offering ingenie insurance to new owners of the Corsa Excite and Limited models for just £99.
As well as collecting data for usage-based insurance, other in-car telematics options are also set to increase - revolutionising our everyday journeys with enhanced navigation, communication and safety.
The popularity of telematics is already starting to rise quickly: Juniper Research, a mobile and telecom analysis group, projects global revenues to reach $20 billion (US) by 2018.
The ingenie move into Canada is nearing launch time, and with young Canadians eager for a way to cut the current high cost of insurance, the demand for telematics looks set to keep growing.
