Theory test costs to drop from October 2014
Unusual news: one of the costs of driving will soon be lower.
The DVLA announced today that from October 2014, the theory test fee will drop from £31 to £25 - with a further decrease to £23 in October 2015. That's a not-too-shabby cut of 25% and, for young drivers especially, a welcome saving on the cost of learning to drive.
The price drop will also apply to motorbikes and other vehicles, so it's good news all round for learners. You can find full details of the new theory test fees at GOV.UK.
This has been achieved without compromising on the vital role the theory test plays in making sure that new drivers know The Highway Code and the rules of the road. I am delighted that theory tests will now offer better value for money while continuing to meet these rigorous standards.
